Carbon Reduction Plan
In 2020 the NHS first launched its campaign to become a more environmentally friendly NHS, the work and consultations culminated in their plan to deliver a Net Zero National Health Service. As a supplier to the NHS we have aligned with their practices to help bring this campaign to reality and committing to the following targets
The targets set are as follows:
- Aim to be at Net Zero for the emissions we can control by 2040
- Aim to be at Net Zero for the emissions we can influence by 2045
We are now starting to track and report our carbon footprint and using 2022 – 2023 as our baseline.
Scope
There are 3 different levels of emissions which we have measured using the SME Climate Hub calculator.
- Scope 1 – Direct emissions from the combustion of fuel is assets that pfmmedical UK operates
- Scope 2 – Indirect emissions form the generation of energy purchased by pfmmedical UK
- Scope 3 – All indirect greenhouse gas emissions that do not fall under scope 2. The calculations include upstream emissions from purchased goods, capital goods, upstream transport and distribution and business travel.
